There are some really great patterns in the book and the hats are totally adorable. Her yarn references are also really great and I found some beautiful yarns just from the suggestions in the book.I am beginner but I did however find some errors to the patterns in this book. It was pretty frustrating at first since I thought I was the one at fault, but once I realized the patterns were wrong (not me) I corrected the hat and was able to finish. Then I found another error to a different pattern and I am now looking for a better book. Also the illustrations of the types of stitches are pretty good, but in particular the m1 stitch just leaves a hole in your knitting, so I learned an alternate make 1 not in the book from my local yarn store sales person. I also noticed the knit 3 together illustration was actually a knit 2 together, pretty easy to spot, but not really clear for someone that is mostly into visual learning.I think those kinds of errors are not really acceptable (but I'm a crafting perfectionist), so if you buy this book beware! Hard to give it less than a 3 though, because some patterns were great and all the hats were adorable.I am a slow knitter sometimes, I blame that on having two small children, haha! That being said, I could knit from this book every day!The patterns are very clear, even for a beginner! There really are so many cute hats in here that I don't feel like I bought the book for one pattern (and that has happened more than once!) I have knit the Flour Sack 4 times already! The Classic Cap pattern knits really well using Malabrigo Worsted yarn. I love the way it turned out! I have knit about 5 patterns in here so far and really can't wait to try them all!Overall, I think this book is a GREAT buy if you are looking to knit any newborn all the way up to small pre-teen hats! You will get years of use from this book, and some stylish kids!I saw a hat from this book (The Chocqua)in a yarn shop and was SO charmed by it, that I had to have the book. When I looked through the book and saw that I loved almost every hat, I could see visions of actually USING MY BABY HAT YARN STASH! Well, who knows if that will really happen, but I seriously could see using my stash to make multiple versions of each hat. I have made the Chocqua now, and two versions of the Accordion Hat, and have plans to try out different self-striping superwash yarns on many of the hats. I haven't had this much fun in a long time! I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to do some unique and completely adorable hats for their children or grandchildren! The best collection of adorable baby hats ever published! I am constantly referring to the easy instructions. They are so well written and in great detail. I always know a hand knitted hat from this book will make a cute baby/toddler gift for any occasion. Many of my knitting friends have ordered this book after seeing how cute the hats are The photos of the baby models are outstanding.I've only completed a couple of the hats in this book so far and have not encountered any mistakes in the pattern directions, but there are a lot more hats to knit! One thing I really like about this book is that although the author used a variety of yarns to make the hats, she specifically talks about yarn substitutions. Kudos for that!!! I love the fun and interesting variety of hats in this book as well as the fact that you can make each hat in a range of sizes from newborn to 2 years-old and up!I bought this book to add to my collection of baby hat patterns. I just love to make baby hats. This is a great book comparable with Itty Bitty hats. The directions could not be more clear with great picture to help guide you. I have now made three of the hats in this book, I have found one pattern with direction mistakes that make a cute hat, but not the one pictured. Some of the yarns are a bit difficult to find as the author is an Aussie, but substitutes are really easy. Even with these minor issues, this is a great book. Most hats are knit in a DK wool on size 7 circular needles. If you have a passion for baby hats, you'll really enjoy using this book.I am going to be a new grandmother and checked this book out from the library to knit a hat for the new baby. My daughter picked out several hats that she wanted me to knit. The book was so easy to understand and the patterns where so much fun that I ordered a copy of the book for my library. There is something for everyone in this book. I have knitted Christmas gift for several children that are hard to buy for. I have over ten hats done and I have only had the book for a month. This book is awesome!! I love the patterns which are simple to follow and execute. The book even includes step by step techniques for every stitch used to make the hats. It gives yarn suggestions and is super easy to understand. I'm a beginner knitter and I've been able to make these hats no problem. The photos are awesome, super cute, and gives you a great reference to what the finished hat should look like!Overall this is an awesome book to have in your knitting collection!!!!A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+Jenn
